ABOUT
Juliana DeWillems is the Owner and Head Trainer at JW Dog Training & Behavior Consulting in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She began training dogs in 2013 and got her first certification in 2014, graduating with distinction from the Karen Pryor Academy as a Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP). Juliana went on to get her Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification in 2016, Certified Behavior Consultant Canine - Knowledge Assessed (CBCC-KA) certification in 2019, and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) in 2021.
Juliana works with behaviors of all kinds, from basic manners to fear, anxiety, reactivity and aggression. With a focus on positive reinforcement, Juliana uses the science of behavior and learning to work with her clients and improve their dog's behavior. While she is not currently taking on new clients, Juliana's business, JW Dog Training, provides training services for these behaviors throughout Northern Virginia with the help of JWDT's exceptional certified trainers.
Juliana is also Faculty for the Karen Pryor Academy, teaching the Dog Trainer Professional program.
Juliana worked on the behavior team at the Humane Rescue Alliance (formerly the Washington Humane Society) from 2015 - 2017. During this time she implemented behavior modification plans for shelter dogs and cats, performed behavior evaluations on shelter dogs, and trained shelter staff and volunteers on topics including canine body language, clicker training and behavior modification.
Prior to becoming a dog trainer, Juliana worked in development and event planning for the Montgomery County Humane Society in Maryland and Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Virginia.
